GK Web Family Updates

I apologize to all for not keeping the blog and website updated. As Steve mentioned previously, our mom was admitted to the hospital almost three weeks ago. I've been driving 2 to 3 hours each way (depending on traffic), everyday, to keep her company while Steve recovers from viral pneumonia. So, neither one of us has had much time for our computers.

A few weeks ago we were told that all we could do for Mom was keep her comfortable and painfree as her time on this earth was short. Well, she fooled them! She continues to get stronger, however it is still a touch and go situation. Yesterday she was transferred to our local hospital, so my commuting days are gone. The next time I cross the Golden Gate will be as a tourist! We hope to get her healthy enough to transfer to a skilled nursing facility so she can spend a few more years watching her great-grandchildren grow.

From what I've learned of viral pneumonia - it starts out like any cold virus except it attacks your lungs instead of your nose. The inablilty to breathe and constant coughing weaken the body so that even after the virus is gone it can take 4 to 6 weeks for your muscles to regain their strength. Steve wasn't taking care of himself. He thought he had a flu bug and would be fine in a few days. In addition to his own illness he was taking care of our 87 year old mom, which proved to be too much for even a healthy person.

We will both be back into our routines soon. Thank you for your emails, comments and concern for Steve and Mom. We're all on the road to recovery.

Carole

I'm glad your mom proved the medical folks wrong! My mom did the same thing, and it was wonderful!

Let's hope things continue to go well for you and your family.

Hi Steve/Carole

About two months ago my wife and I went through a similar lung infection illness. We did not visit the GP and thought we could cure it - we did.
This illness started off with terrible back pain, which felt as if it was moving through the chest. Each breath was severe in pain. I could NOT sleep normally and had to sit up in bed with cushions stacked behind me. Then the sweating and cold shivers started, which lasted two days. Amoxillin with Garlic did'nt help much. Co-trimoxazole with Garlic Oil worked well. For pain half Disprin + half Paracetamol helped. I thought i was near death and felt quite depressed at the time. No jokes.

We also increased our Vitamin C intake with Isotonic GAME. Although not coughing or having a sore throat used some cough syrup - cant recall name now - (emailing from my workplace).

We used Co-trimoxazole (PURBAC) combined with VITAL Garlic Oil capsules.
At the same time we remained on our usual Flax Oil/yoghurt. We were ill for about a week plus.

We are now permanently on Turmeric/Ginger.

Wishing you well and knowing you and your family will overcome the present challenges. We are with You in our hearts at this time.

Thanks again for such an interesting and amazing website and comments which we MISS!!!

Take good care and look after yourselves.

Sincere best wishes
JayTee and family

Carole,
Steve wrote that he "especially liked the muffins and cookies sent to him". If you are right about viral pneumonia, then it is of a big concern: according to Dr. Sandler (http://www.mercola.com/article/sugar/polio_sugar.htm), consuming sugar/starch drops blood glucose below 80 at some point after the meal, and - according to Sandler's research - the body stays virtually defenseless against viruses until the time blood glucose climbs back above 80. So, enjoying muffings/cookies a symbolic present might be OK - but isn't it a huge mistake to eat them at the climax of fighting any viral infection?
