Swine Flu and Flax Lignans
Last year I wrote an essay suggesting that concentrated flax lignans could help to control both influenza and bird flu infections. The information in this essay most likely also applies to the control of swine flu as well.

The Omega brand of flax prelignans recommended in this essay is NOT RECOMMENDED. The manufacturer refused to supply documented assays of the prelignan content to both myself and another scientist. The ONLY brand of flax prelignans recommended for clinical purposes is made in North Dakota by a proprietary process that extracts the prelignans directly from the hulls of the flax seed.
The non-profit AIDS organization http://www.aidshivawareness.org/flaxhull.htm is a major supplier of this flax prelignan. They provided validated lab assays on the North Dakota product. This organization is run by a minister to provide medical aid to Africa.

OK, two posts, I hope this means you are feeling a bit better Dr. Steve. I was sorry to hear about your diagnosis but releived that it was basal cell, usually very treatable.
If you have the time and inclination one thing I'd love to see - and I can't figure this out - is an essay that describes the biochemistry that goes on in cells because of l-glutamine. It seems that l-glut depletes GSH levels in cancer cells and/or reduces its uptake into the mitochondria. At the same time in-vitro l-glut seems o be a fuel for cancer cells. So it *seems* like a case of feeding them what they want and it weakens them. But I can't figure out the chemistry. At all.

Dear Dr Steve,
Forgive my ignorance. I have been reading about the 1918 flu pandemic and looks like most of the deaths then were caused by cytokine storm, overreaction of the immune system. So I have 2 questions.
1. Will Flax Lignans be effective in cytokine storm scenario
2. As cytokine storm affects people with strong immune systems, is there a way to temporarily weaken it if the current flu virus mutate to cause cytokine storm.
