Dr. Steve's Not So Excellent Medical Adventure

Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I've just been sick as hell for the last month.

In the last month, I've been given CAT scans, whole torso ultrasound, chest x-rays, and every blood test known to man. I have so many needle holes in my arms that I look like a drug addict.

Yet, I am still weak as a kitten. I've had 3 hours sleep in the last two days. I can't lay on my back without inducing a massive coughing attack so I try to catch a few winks in my recliner chair. I can't even talk without getting out of breath.

My HMO doctor, a fantastic woman, is worrried that I have a heart problem because I suffer serious edema in my legs and feet. My blood pressure is fine but my pulse rate is seriously high. She has me on some strong diuretics and these drugs seem to be working. I am also taking a new antibiotic because my lung function is not good.

On top of everything else, my shoulder wound was biopsied as a basal cell carcinoma. In a week a plastic surgeon is going to analyze the wound before surgury. The wound is now so large that they have to graft skin from my thigh in order to close the post surgery wound.

All my Kaiser HMO physicians have been fantastic. It only costs me $25 to see my physician, $10 for blood tests, $50 to have a CAT scan, $10 for an chest xray (to rule out pneumonia), and $10 for a 50 minute ultrasound procedure. And my drug costs are trivial. My monthly premium is $570 a month. I am very lucky to have this kind of medical coverage. Kaiser is a non-profit organization which allows it to concentrate on the best forms of treatment rather than on making money.

If we could take greed out of the practice of medicine, America would be a healthier country.

I am going to live, but I am still sick and quite weak. As a consequence I am behind in the methyl jasmonate orders. Some orders should have been shipped ten days ago, but they are still here. Please bear with me. I am doing the best that I can. I also have tons of new essays to write, but I can't concentrate well enough to write anything.

I am going to be interviewed by a SF Bay area radio station in early May for one hour. The entire interview will be podcasted throughout the world. Maybe some other members of the press will get interested in Grouppe Kurosawa.

Stay tuned...

Sorry to hear you've been put through the ringer for the last month. Hope you get to feeling well soon.

Looking back on it, I guess those essays where you were trying products on your shoulder were a lot more important than some might have considered them to be.

Godspeed on your recovery.

Hi Steve,

I new to this site. Have you been struggling with your health for awhile, or was this a total surprize? Have you been using the MJ or other protocals? Have you tried iodine on your shoulder?

Our best to you and pray you get well soon!!

Its nice to be appreciated. Two physician friends called me on Sunday. They were not aware that I was so sick. Both offered to write prescriptions for anything that I thought I might need. I asssured them that I was doing much better.

To my shock, one of these guys actually began to cry. He made it clear to me that I was the only person in the world who could write these detailed therapeutic essays. If I died, "what would happen to the rest of us?"

I promised him that I wouldn't die anytime soon. I have been poked, prodded, xrayed, bled, etc. I have even seen a picture of my own pancreas. It is fine, thank you.

Anyway, it is nice to be appreciated.

I never realized how dangerous edema is to our overall health. When fluids build in your body, your heart must work harder and even your breathing is affected. My edema is now gone and I feel so much better. Live and learn...

It's very bad to hear about the sickness you have. I really hope you get well soon. Did you ask the doctors exactly what is wrong with your heart? Perhaps you have been exposed to substances that did some damage to the heart or some other organ? Did they check you completely?

I used to be with Kaiser, but after I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, I switched to a plan that would cover visits and treatments from world-renowned experts, luckily only a short flight away.

The oncologist was good and supportive, but he saw more breast cancer patients in a day than he saw CLL patients in a year.

I am glad I made the change. I've been in three clinical trials, something that Kaiser can't/won't offer.

I understand why the doctor cried, Steve.
You're of a rare breed, man from Reed,a better creed, than physicians of greed,so please take heed, your making a seed, with that kind a deed, it's what people need!
God speed to recovery.
Regarding breathing with a possibly weakened heart, check out the Frolov breathing device, intellectbreathing.com With proper use, (exercise practice)it'd help much.
If chf becomes a question of investigation, be glad to communicate with you my findings on the topic. Adrian

I have been following you for years, and respect your research.
What I dont understand, is how you allowed yourself to get SO SICK, and to develop basal carcinoma???
The mentor, of which you are to all of us, must be the one which we view to be impervious to assaults. In other words, you're not suppose to get sick man! you're the man, right?Dont you take any of your own regimens, and if so, how come it didnt prevent basal cell cancer???

Remember Norman Walker, the father of juicing, lived to be 102, Revicci, cancer pioneer, died at 101 I believe. I guess their regimens did the trick for themselves, proof is in the pudding. Aren't you doing what you preach, at least for a preventative basis???
